About me

Karyn is a multi-media artist with over thirty years of experience with various art forms. These include architectural stained glass, painting, jewelry design, collage, assemblage and special event props. Her passion for making art began when she was a young girl. Her first Studio was in the basement of her parents home and that is where her love for creating things began. With the help of her high school art teacher, she put together her portfolio and applied to art colleges.

In the fall of 1977 she began her first year at The Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston, Ma. She studied there for three years. She then went onto study at Edinburgh College of Art which is located in Edinburgh,Scotland.

A year later Karyn returned to the U.S. she began designing and working for a small Stained Glass Studio in Framingham, Ma.

In 1986 she began working for Jansson which was a high end invitation/stationary corporation located in Waltham, Ma. Karyn was a designer/sales representative for them.  During that time she met an event coordinator whom she worked with for the next twenty five years During that time, Karyn designed many props and centerpieces for the special event industry. It was always exciting and interesting to create pieces to enhance the environment of each special celebration.

In 1999 Karyn made the decision to study illustration at Rhode Island School of Design. During that time her focus was on botanical illustration and children’s book design. She attended evening classes and graduated from that program in 2006. She has since then been working on a children’s book which she hopes to publish soon.

Presently Karyn’s art focus is oil painting. She began painting with oils in 2016. Discovering oil painting has been exciting and challenging. Feels like she has just scratched the surface on this very very rich and complex medium. She’s looking forward to going to the next level with this!
